When you decide to do activities outside of work with each other, you’ll see numerous benefits. Here are a few reasons why team building activities create a difference in employee motivation and work ethic:

Increase Employee Retention

By showing your employees that you care, you also give them an incentive to stay. According to a study by Nielsen, 85% of new professionals said employee treatment and welfare are what they searched for in future employers. Happy employees are more likely to stay with a company longer, which means lower turnover, higher retention rates, and a healthier company overall.

Encourage More Collaboration Within the Company

An informal setting is the perfect place to break down barriers and find other ways to connect within the company. After I went to a bowling night with my Justworks teammates, I was aware of other resources I could turn to in the company if I needed help on a certain project. I was also able to offer advice on certain projects I didn’t even know were happening before in other departments.

Improve Recruiting Efforts

Happy employees are more likely to share how they’re happy with your company to the rest of the world. Creating a fun work environment that values its employees is also an extension of your brand — and your recruiting arm. When prospective employees see positive Glassdoor reviews and tweets of your team bonding outside of the office, they’ll be attracted to the fun-loving work environment you have to offer.
