How an EOR Can Help with Compliance in Pakistan

Pakistani labor laws include provisions for employment relationships, compensation, benefits, and termination. Justworks helps you navigate these statutory requirements by supporting compliant employment practices, so you don’t have to manage local processes on your own.

What HR Leaders Need to Know

Pakistani labor laws establish minimum standards and employee rights that generally can’t be waived.

Payroll

Employees are entitled to payment per their employment contract or statutory minimum wage requirements. Wage periods can’t exceed a month and must be paid within seven days after the wage period ends. Overtime must be compensated at double the regular rate or at the applicable legal premium rate where applicable.

Additional Compensation

Employers may be required to provide bonuses during profitable years, subject to statutory formulas. Statutory rights to compensation for workplace injuries can’t be waived.

Employment Contracts

Employment terms should be documented in writing that clearly outlines the terms and conditions of employment at the time of appointment, transfer, or promotion.

All contracts must include the following:

  • Written employment terms

  • Defined probationary periods (up to three months)

  • End Date on fixed-term contracts

  • Permanent status after probation
